My parents are Jehovah's Witnesses. I left the religion. They shunned me. Literally won't speak to me. Their religion requires cutting off "apostates." So they obeyed. Chose dogma over their child. I see them at stores sometimes. They look away. Pretend I don't exist. Turn and walk away. I'm dead to them. Because I made different choices about God. Because I chose my own path. This is cult behavior. And I'm mourning the parents I lost. Even though they're still alive.
