My family is Catholic. I married a divorced person. They consider my marriage invalid. Say I'm "living in sin." They boycotted my wedding. Won't acknowledge my spouse. Pray for my "conversion" back to proper marriage. I'm happy. My marriage is healthy. My life is good. But they can't be happy for me. Because their religion matters more than my happiness. Their rules matter more than our relationship. I'm done trying to earn approval I'll never get. Done apologizing for loving someone.
