When love wasn't enough to heal you
Watching you struggle, knowing my love alone couldn't fix what was broken, learning the hard limit of what love can do
I tried to love you through the darkness. I thought if I loved you hard enough, bright enough, you'd find your way back to the light. But mental illness doesn't work that way, and I was drowning trying to save you. [ What I'm Grateful For ] Thank you for teaching me compassion. Thank you for showing me the complexity of the human mind, for helping me understand that some battles can't be won with love alone. You made me more empathetic, even as you broke my heart. [ The Goodbye & The Wish ] I hope you get the professional help you need. I hope you find healing that I couldn't provide. I hope you understand that leaving doesn't mean I stopped loving you—it means I finally loved myself enough to survive. Please get better. Not for me, but for you.
